Crafty Catz DT - Anything Goes with optional twist of Embossing

Morning all

Hope you've all had a good week. This weeks challenge over at Crafty Catz is Anything Goes with the optional twist of Embossing. We are sponsored this week by Digital Papercraft who are offering our winner 3 images.

My card this week was for Father's Day which was a couple of weekends ago now.

I hope the close up images are better at showing the embossing for you all. The card is embossed with a Sizzix folder and the stars cut out using Sizzix Dies. The card base is bronze card and I mounted the embossed panel on that then added foam squares behind the smaller star and added the word Dad in the same bronze card and connected the whole card by putting stardust stickles on the smaller star and bronze stickles on the embossed base. I edge the whole card with black pen.

That's it this week. Hope you all have a good weekend. Until next time, happy crafting!

Anything Goes with the Twitst of a Male Card - Wish Big

Morning all and welcome to the new challenge for Crafty Catz.

So this weeks theme is - as always - anything goes, but to compliment last weeks challenge, we've got the added twist of a Male Card. We are sponsored this week by Rick St Dennis and the lucky winner will get 3 images of their choice

Now, I made a card with an image we we're kindly donated and I stupidly tried to photograph it late on Tuesday night after I got back from a huge event at work - needless to say, fatigue, photography and a cup of tea are a bad combination and I ruined the card before I managed to snap a pic.

So instead I'm afraid I've only got a really simple card I made for my Dad's birthday to share with you instead.

The card uses up lots of scraps of paper and card and the edges were inked using Distress Inks in Festive Berries, Wild Honey, Evergreen Bough, Pumice Stone and Vintage Photo. I used some ribbon from stash to bring it all together.

CAS and quick to make. Hope you like it and apologies again for the lack of sponsor card. Anyway, until next time, happy crafting

Wishing You Birthday Fishes!

Morning all,

Who stole the sun? it was gorgeous weather yesterday and today it's so grey and miserable I just want to crawl back into my bed.

I'm here to share one of the many June Birthday cards I've made (19 birthdays in one month is a killer!) Thankfully, I can double up a lot of designs, which I did with this one:
So I'll own up to having seen a few 'birthday fishes' cards on good old pinterest and it entertained me so this is my take on the idea.

The sentiment is just computer generated, I randomly punched holes using my single hole punch, which I edged with pale blue promarker, hand cut the shape out and the blue metallic paper underneath and then used half of the Whimsie Doodle image - Great Catch in two different sizes to get the fish, which I coloured in Pumpkin and Gold promarkers and highlighted with white gel pen. The fishes were also raised on foam pads.

I'm pleased with the result and I think a few more of these will have to be in due course.

I would like to enter this card into the following challenges:
Crafting with Attitude - Anything Goes
Craft your Passion - Anything Goes

Thanks for stopping by. Hope you like it and until next time - happy crafting!

Crafty Catz DT - One for the Boys

Another manic week is almost at an end and I'm back with a new challenge card for Crafty Catz and this weeks theme has been set by Sue who would like to see you make One for the Boys. We are sponsored this week by Craft Classes Online
Our lucky winner will receive a free seat to an online workshop valued $25 or less

My card this week is one of those use up the scraps projects using an image from Bugaboo
I coloured the image with promarkers in the following colours; apple, light green, pastel pink, gold and buttercup. All the papers are scraps and the buttons are from stash.

Until next time, happy crafting!

Happy Birthday Dad - the Big 6-0!

Evening all,

A non design team card for a change! lol! this weekend was Dad's 60th Birthday and I wanted to make something a little different for him. I looked around for some inspiration and settled on a tunnel card. Being the big 6-0 I wanted to make sure it was on there but then the issue was making a male card - I know I've said it before but I'll say it again, I hate men's cards! I kept it clean and simple and pulled out lots of dies.
I used my star dies, the letters are memory box and the numbers are cuttlebug kids thinlets. I hand cut the circles having traced the outside of the stars to create the pattern. The papers are all metallic blue's and cream. The 60 and the letters were also double embossed using glimmer powder.

So there you go, my dad's 60th birthday card. Glad I don't have to make my mums for another 2 years!

I would like to enter this card into the following challenges:

Sparkle N Sprinkle - Anything Goes - Using loose glitter, Embossing Powder and/or Flock
Imagination Crafts - Anything Goes
Crafting from the heart - Anything Goes

Crafty Catz DT - Anything Goes

Happy New Year!

Welcome to 2015 and the first challenge of the year from Crafty Catz. To help ease everyone back into the challenges we're starting with everyone's favourite - Anything Goes

Our sponsor this week is Fitztown who are offering our lucky winner 3 images of their choice

My card this week is actually my brother's birthday card. As his birthday is January 1st I always struggle to find inspiration to make his card - well, that and the fact I hate making men's birthday cards!

I cased a card I found on Pinterest (got to love that site for inspiration!) and came up with this

It's a great card to use up scraps I have to say. The sentiment and name are computer generated, the shape is hand cut and the blue thread is actually embroidery silk. I brushed the edge of the shape with versa magic ink in turquoise and mounted it on foam pads.

I hope you like it and don't forget to come and play with us at Crafty Catz this week.

Until next time Happy Crafting!

Playing with Paper Piecing - Happy Birthday

Morning one and all,

I have a couple of cards to share with you before we see out the year and the first is a Birthday Card for a male friend. I hate making men's cards with a passion but I love this Happy Birthday Stamp as it makes life so simple. It's also a great way of using up scrap papers.

Crafty Catz DT - One for the Boys

Hello everyone! welcome back - I'm been MIA I know, I had meant to share a couple of other projects with you this week but work's been manic and time to sit and blog has been scarce.

I hope you'll all forgive me as I'm back with a new challenge card for Crafty Catz and this weeks theme has been set by Christine who would like to see you make One for the Boys. We are sponsored this week by Bugaboo
7 images of winners choice

So we all know Bugaboo do some fab male images and although we were given some to play with, I had to dive into my stash to pull out Deacon Cake who is just perfect for my little cousin's birthday
As always he's coloured with promarkers in the following colours: Blush, Canary, Gold, Mustard, Buttercup, Caramel, Duck Egg, Midnight Blue and Meadow Green

I cut him out using sizzix shapelets and edged it with sky blue versamagic ink. The circles are from punches and the paper is all offcuts in stash. The buttons are all stock.

I love this layout as its a great one for using up odd bits of paper. I hope you like it though and don't forget to pop along and see the other fab creations by the girls. Until next time though, happy crafting!

Crafty Catz DT - Stitching: Real or Faux

Morning all! Another week almost over. Where does the time go?!

Well, Friday only means one thing and that's a new challenge at Crafty Catz. Our theme for this week which is Stitching it can be real or faux it doesn't matter which!  We are sponsored this week by Stamping Boutique who are offering our prize winner 3 digi stamps of their choice

My card this week is for a friend of mine who grows the most amazing moustaches! He's only in his early 20's (makes me feel old) but he's a total character. Anyway, I found a card on Pinterest from a French Blog and I took inspiration to create this:

So I stitched a black border and then cut the moustache out by hand. Found a bow template online and an old black coat button. I glossed the moustache with glossy accents and raised it on foam pads. Mounted the whole lot onto black card and then base card and there we have it.

Hope you like it - I know he does (like most men I know, he has no patience and opened it days before his actual birthday! lol!)

Anyway, swing by the blog to see the rest of the teams amazing creations. Until next time though, happy crafting!

Crafty Catz DT - Monochrome

Happy Friday one and all!

Am I ever glad its the end of the week - it's been a bad one I have to say - but the weekend brings a break and fresh starts next week!

Enough of my rambling, it's time to get on with this weeks challenge card for Crafty Catz. This weeks theme has been set by me and it's Monochrome. Remember, monochrome is shades of any colour - not just black and white.

We are sponsored this week by  Delicious Doodles, who are offering our lucky winner 4 images of their choice
Grab a Banner
On with the card then:

We were given this lovely image to play with but it was originally in black and white, so I tweaked it somewhat on the computer to get to a sepia brown feel and then layered it all up. The papers are from All Aboard and Wellington 6x6 paper packs, I cut the calendar sections out from another sheet of paper. The ribbon is from stash as are the pips.

I hope you like it - I tried to give it an old world vintage feel that was still suitable for a guy.

Anyway, thanks for dropping by and until next time - happy crafting!

Birthday Boy Blues

Afternoon all,

I hope you're all having a good start to the weekend, whatever you're up to. I just have a quick card to share today. I have both a good friend and my Dad's birthday in the next two weeks and once again the dreaded task of making original 'male' cards stared me in the face. So firstly - to cheat - I made the same card, twice! lol! secondly I looked at all the scraps of paper I had and decided that this was going to be my driving force. So here we are:

So I went with lots of layers; base card, black card, white card, blue card, patterned paper and then the second star is raised on a foam pad too!

It took longer than I expected to get all the pieces the right size and make it look ok, but I'm fairly happy with the final result.

I would like to enter this card into Fussy and Fancy - Monochrome (mainly blues), Creative Inspiration - Anything Goes with Sketch Option (not used sketch) and Dream Valley - Boys/Men

Until next time, happy crafting!
