Crafty Catz Dt - Let It Snow

Evening All!

Not sure why I failed to set the time correctly for this to go live this morning, so sorry about that, but better late than never hey?!

So it's Friday and another new challenge over at Crafty Catz Challenges this week. Our theme has been set by the lovely Jac who wants to see cards on the theme of Let It Snow. We are sponsored this week by Crafty Sentiments who are offering our lucky winner 3 digi images of their choice.
My card this week features an image From the Heart called In the Meadow
I coloured the image with pro-markers and then masked the image and dusted the background with Tim Holtz ink. I double mounted it onto black card and then layered it onto a hand cut piece of vellum which I embossed using a sizzix folder.

So there we have it - this years alternative Christmas Cards. I hope you like it and don't forget to see the other fab cards by the girls over on the challenge blog.

Until next time, happy crafting

Crafty Catz DT - Shades of Blue

Morning all,

Isn't the year running away with us? Before we know it Christmas will be here - eek! Well, the end of another working week means another challenge at Crafty Catz. This weeks theme is set by the lovely Dianne and is Shades of Blue. We are sponsored by the fab team at Bugaboo Stamps, who are always so generous and are offering our lucky winner 7 images of their choice

I'm on a simple streak with my cards at the moment - partly because of time constraints and partly because I struggle with elaborate cards unless I have lots of time to think about them in advance. So here's to another simple card.

I tried to make the image look a bit like a snowglobe, without all the sprinkles (I don't have any, so couldn't make a shaker card)

The image is coloured with promarkers in: Poppy, Pumpkin, Gold, Spice, Sandstone,  Cinnamon, Cool Grey 1, Pear Green, Sky Blue, Blue Pearl, Royal Blue and China Blue

The paper and silver card are from my stash and the circles were cut with my trusty Lifestyle Crafts dies. I finished the image with Stickles Stardust.

So there you go. My card for the week. The girls have created some amazing cards so do swing by and see them at the blog. Until next time though - happy crafting!

Crafty Catz DT - Winter

Morning all,

Well I'm back (just about) from my break from blogland. Life got all a bit much recently and it's taken a while to get everything back to even keel..... well, as even as it ever is in my life. So my apologies for having not been round to see you all recently and my thanks to the Crafty Catz girls for picking up the slack while I had a breather.

So with that said, here's to the new Crafty Catz Challenge. The theme this week is Winter, which has been set by the lovely Sue. We are sponsored this week by Creative Classroom who are offering our lucky winners a chance to sit one of their classes.
My card this week uses an image from Make it Crafty, which is so detailed I decided to make it the feature and leave the card simple
I layered the image to give it some dimension and coloured it using promarkers in the following colours: Pumpkin, Spice, Burnt Orange, Gold, Sandstone, Henna, Cinnamon, Black, Slate, Cool Grey 1, Warm Grey 1, Midnight Blue, Blue Pearl, Poppy, Burgundy, Plum, Pear Green, Moss and Forest Green,

I finished the card with accents in metallic pens and layered it on black card before mounting it on a base of silver card stock.

So there you go. Back in the saddle. I hope you like it and don't forget to come and join in the fun. Until next time though, happy crafting!

Crafty Catz DT - Anything Goes

Morning all,

Here's to the end of another week. Anyone else want to sleep the weekend away? well, before we get to that possibility we need to launch the new Crafty Catz Challenge. This weeks theme is Anything Goes and we are sponsored once again by Bugaboo Stamps who are offering our lucky winner 7 images of their choice.
My project is not a card this week but rather a review of an ongoing charity project that I've been working on.
In May I entered a draw to win some slight second, glass baubles from a local bead company Spellbound Beads. As it turned out, I was gifted 40 baubles in various sizes, free of charge, with the understanding that they were used for either a community project or for fundraising.

As a Church we do a lot of work with communities in Malawi, sponsoring schools, hospitals and helping local girls learn skills so that they can earn money and be independent. Twice a year we send containers full of clothing, books etc to our projects. The money I raise will be to support these projects.

So here are just some of the many beaded bauble projects I've been working on. I've used my personal stash of beads and some which have been donated by a friend. I'm hoping to sell them at a coffee and cake event in November.

Anyway, a bit different this week, but hope you enjoyed it. Don't forget to swing by the blog to see the other amazing projects. Until next time though, happy crafting.

Crafty Catz DT - Golden Oldie

Morning all, it's another Friday and another challenge over at Crafty Catz.

This weeks theme has been set by the lovely Sue and she want's to see The Golden Oldie - this must be a stamp (rubber or digital) which has been in your collection for over 12 months.

We are sponsored this week by Crafty Ribbons who are giving our lucky winners a £10 voucher to the shop

My stamp is from a Woodware Nativity set that I got in 2007 and just for a laugh, here's the card I made with it back then:
Sadly, I think it was the ink that I used on these cards which has led to the deterioration of the stamp and tragedy has struck as I beheaded Joseph when I removed the stamp from the block. I have a few other early cling stamps that I used Stazon ink on that have also turned brittle. But we live and learn. Thankfully I got a clean impression before this all transpired and was able to still go ahead and make this weeks card.

I coloured the background with a lot of layers of Plum and Midnight blue, and the image with Gold, Cool Grey 1, Blush, Satin, Caramel, Cinnamon, Blue Pearl, Indigo Blue and the stable was coloured with Henna. I created my own stable template and raised it on foam pads. The star and the halos were finished with stickles stardust and a gold pearl in the centre of the star.

I would like to enter this into the following challenges:
Crafting with an attitude - Anything Goes
Simon Says - Anything Goes
Crafting from the heart - Anything Goes
Craft your Passion - Anything Goes

So there you go. I hope you like it and are inspired to join in this week at Crafty Catz. Until next time, happy crafting.

2014 Christmas Cards

Afternoon all,

Back with another card for you all. This is the design I did for this year's Christmas cards. I forgot to take a photo of them, but I was over at my brother and sister in laws yesterday so I kidnapped theirs to photograph it for the records, which also means I can share it!

It's a woodware stamp, which I have to say is not the easiest thing in the world to get a clean impression off most the time - patience was a definite requirement for this years cards. Stamped on hammered cardstock, mounted on pearlised green card and coloured with promarkers

I would like to enter this card into the following challenges:

Creative Inspirations - Christmas/New Year
Simon Says - Anything Goes (entry 2)
C.R.A.F.T challenge - Anything Goes (entry 2)

Until next time - happy crafting!

Crafty Catz DT - Last Minute Christmas

Well here we are - at the last challenge over at Crafty Catz for the year and a fitting challenge it is too!  The theme was set by the lovely Jac and it's Last Minute Christmas.

We have two sponsors this week - Kenny K Designs and Make it Crafty
5 images of winners choice

$10 Gift Certificate

For my card this week I used the fabulous Winter Scene from Make it Crafty:
I printed the image twice on linen card and spliced it three ways so that the image was not only staggered up and down but layered up. I mounted each of the sections onto dark blue card and coloured the image with promarkers - I have to say that doing large areas of a single colour on linen cardstock is not fun - it just absorbs the ink!

The ribbon is from Wilko's Christmas gift-wrap range and the button is from stash. I finished the card with some stickles glitter all over the place and white pen to highlight the falling snow.

Hope you like it and don't forget to swing by and see the other girl's creations on the blog.

Until next time, happy crafting!

Crafty Catz DT- Christmas Card With A Snowman

Morning all,

Another week closer to Christmas and another week of the year gone....  this weeks challenge over at Crafty Catz is set by Christine and she want's you to make a Christmas Card with a Snowman. We are sponsored this week by the fab team at Bugaboo

7 images of winners choice

The image is coloured with promarkers, the fab saying was a printable I found on Pinterest and the papers are all really old freebie papers from magazines. The doily is from a do-craft collection and the gems are from my stash.

Nothing too complicated. I have to say for a non traditional card I quite enjoyed making it.

Hope you like it and don't forget to see the other fab inspirations on the Crafty Catz website. Until next time though, happy crafting.

Crafty Catz DT - Christmas is Coming

Morning all,

So another Friday closer to Christmas, where is the year going? just as well this week's theme at Crafty Catz is Christmas is Coming. The lovely Nina set our theme and we have two sponsors this week - Rick St Dennis and Marianne Designs

3 Images of Winners Choice

Surprise from Marianne Designs

I tried to keep the card simple this week and came up with this

I put the digi image in Photoshop and turned it to Sepia tones and printed it off. I stamped a freebie snowflake stamp onto Kraft card using white ink and edged the square with some more white. I mounted this onto some dark red card and then added another strip of card onto the top. I added two strips of ribbon from Wilko's Christmas range and created a bow to add to one end. I mounted the image on foam pads and finished the whole design with crystal gems.

So there we go. Hope you like it. Don't forget to swing by the blog to see all the other gorgeous creations this week. Until next time though, happy crafting!
