Crafty Catz DT - New Beginnings

Good morning everyone,

Well, it's that time of the week again for a new challenge over at Crafty Catz. This weeks theme is set by the lovely Nina, who would like to see New Beginnings - so new baby, new job, new home etc. Once again we are sponsored by the fabulous Crimson Cloud who are offering our lucky winner 3 packs of die cuts.

This weeks challenge is the last before the New Year and with that in mind I made a New Years card using this fabulous image from Whimsie Doodles which is called New Years Lush.

Isn't it just the most fun? lol! If I was a sheep I would want to be in a Martini glass! I kept it all very simple and used Black, Pink Mittens, Icicle, Ruby and Frosted Leaf promarkers, old oddments of papers, stickles on the sheep and the edge of the sentiment and a couple of candy pips and ribbon from stash to finish.

Partridge in a Pear Tree

Evening all,

Well I finally got the vast majority of my christmas cards made and sent and this year I stuck with a simple design which was actually really fun to make using this fabulous image from Bugaboo Stamps.

The image is coloured with my beloved promarkers, accented with ruby and star dust stickles and finished with papers from Dovecraft Back to Basics Modern Christmas range. The whole lot was mounted and double mounted on Kraft card.

Well, the next 11 years are sorted as I think I might just do the whole series lol!

Crafty Catz DT - Shaped Cards

Morning all,

Well here's to one less Friday before Christmas! I can't believe how fast this year is going. Scary really. Anyway, as it is Friday that means it's time for a new challenge over at Crafty Catz and this week our theme has been set by the lovely Beth, who would like to see shaped cards please - so no squares or rectangles at all.

They were also kind enough to give us a couple of images to play with and I chose, like most of the team, this fabulous Christmas silhouette:

I decided to go with a star shaped card and actually once I'd worked out how to do this style of card realised how crazily simple they are. I cut the base card in heavy weight card stock and then covered it in snowflake paper that I've had for a couple of years. The snowflakes actually have a slight texture to them. Next I printed the digi and freehand cut around it, before mounting it onto a die cut circle which I'd coloured blue with chalk ink. I mounted the whole lot and finished by adding a fine layer of stickles around the circle of the image to give it a magical feel and a few gems in the centres of random snowflakes to add texture.

Afternoon all,

Well, I can't believe that it's already the 6th December and I still haven't posted any Christmas cards, actually until this morning, I'd only made 2! oops!  But today I have been on a mission to rectify this situation and I've run up half a dozen of the following cards:

The image is, of course, by the fabulous Mo Manning and is just  a dream to colour. I added the sentiment on the bottom before I printed it and then just used a really simple colour palette of promarkers to colour it in.

 

I double mounted the whole thing onto silver christmas card to finish the design and I left it at that. The image is just too lovely to make a fussy card, so CAS was the mantra.

Afternoon all.

Just a quick card to share with you all today. I'm desperately trying to get my head around christmas cards and failing. I'm just not inspired! Nevermind. This is a quick idea I threw together, i'm not entirely happy with it, but I can see where it's going.

Sorry the pictures aren't great but I just can't seem to get white embossing to show up very well.

I just wanted a very clean and simple design, but I think this is just a bit bland - but I have an idea to improve it. But nevertheless, here we go.

Crafty Catz DT - Recycle/Upcycle.

Good Morning.

Well it's the end of the week and that means that it's time for a new challenge at Crafty Catz. This week's challenge has been set by me and I would love to see you all recycle/upcycle.

This weeks recipe is 1 metal tin, rescued from work; scraps of paper from the Dovecraft Back to Basics Modern Christmas range, ribbon from a box of chocolates; a button from an old cushion my friend at church was throwing out; the fantastic image from stamp fairy coloured with promarkers in the following colours: cinnamon, caramel, ivory, blush, buttercup, duck egg, cornflower, china blue, moss, pear green and finally, some stickles to add that glittery finish.

The Bell Still Rings....

Good Morning,

Just a quick little fun project that I've thrown together for my craft stall on Saturday; Polar Express inspired ornaments. Now if you've read the book or seen the movie you should understand but for those of you that haven't, the ringing bell stands for faith, for believing in something special, for magic - be it father christmas for young children or Jesus Christ for practicing Christians. Whoever, or whatever it represents to you, it's just a fun little thing that reminds us all of the joy and magic that christmas time envokes.

I'd seen numerous versions of this project on Pinterest but was most influenced by this one. I'd picked up a mixed box of 9 bells and made my own little tag to go on them and used up oddments of red and green ribbons. I then stumbled on this fantastic free printable and printed them off to go in the bag with the bells, for a fuller explination.

 

They were fun and super quick to do and make me smile when I look at them, so hopefully they'll be off to new homes soon to make other people smile and feel the christmas joy.

Crafty Catz DT Card - Snowflakes, Star and Sentiment

Hello!

So another week has come and gone and friday is here once more, which means a fabulous new challenge has started over at Crafty Catz. This week theme has been set by Dianne who would like to see Snowflakes, Star and Sentiment on your design somewhere.

This week I have returned to my simplistic style - it was originally going to be white on white but I think the little bit of colour really adds to this design:

The background is a sizzix embossing folder with snowflakes from which I freehand cut a star shape. I then added some red organza ribbon from stash and mounted it onto red card. A then free cut a second smaller star shape which I mountd on foam pads and smothered in stickles then drew some letters to spell Noel, cut them and embossed them in my cuttlebug spots and dots folder. These too were mounted on foam pads and the whole design was finished with some tiny red gems.

Mistletoe and wine...oh wait! no, that's holly!

Good afternoon one and all,

 

How are we doing today? the weather here is grey and miserable and making it impossible to get any decent light to photograph cards! So rather than share this morning's project, I thought I would show you these little hearts that I've made.

 

I made one last year for my mum - although a slightly different shape heart and she loved it and then everyone who came to the house over the festive period said how much they liked it and could I make them one. Well, a year down the line, I've tweaked the design slightly and made a matching Holly version and so half a dozen of these little hearts will be winging their way to various family members and friends as part of their christmas presents.

Cross stitched on 16 count blue aida they are finished with some beads and organza ribbon. They took about 6 hours each to make and I am now a little bit sick of the sight of them lol!

Crafty Catz DT Card - Lets have some sparkle

Good Morning all,

Friday is here once again and that means so too is a new challenge at Crafty Catz. This weeks theme has been set by Janette who chose a theme that makes me very happy as I do love glitter! She would like you all to add some sparkle to your cards this week - yipee!

Once again we were provided with a couple of image choices for our DT cards this week and I chose the fabulous Merry Go Round Horse which you can find here:

This week I decided to colour the image with watercolour pencils, as I wanted a softer 'cotton-candy' type feel to the card. I kept to three colours for the card and matched them through the paper, ribbon and buttons.

 

The papers are from the Boho Chic collection, the ribbon is a glitter organza from stash which is actually pink and blue (sorry it doesn't show up very well in the images). The buttons are from stash and I finished the card off which is as much Stickles Star Dust as I thought I could reasonably get away with; each of the papers is edged in glitter as too is the big button. I looked like the glitter fairy had got me by the time I had finished.

Crafty Catz DT - Anything Goes

Thank goodness for friday's hey? it means the weekend is almost here and the fun times can begin! it also means that it's time for another challenge over at Crafty Catz! This week the lovely Sassy has set the theme of Anything Goes! So we're looking forward to seeing all your lovely creations - whatever they may be.

As usual, the DT were lucky enough to be given some fabulous images to play with and I chose to use this fabulous candy train on my creation.

My project this week was a tag for a Santa Key. I've made a pile of these for the church fundraiser this weekend (which is where I'll be, setting up, when this post goes live). I wish I could claim originality but I can't, I found this fabulous project on Pinterest and you can find the original here.

Nevertheless, the tag design is entirely my own and this weeks recipe list for my project is: Kraft card, Dovecraft Modern Back to Basics Christmas Collection, Red and White cardstock, White peel-off snowflakes from stash, Red and Blue Gems from stash, Caramel Ribbon from stock - part of my birthday present from Aunty Sue and Stickles star dust.

The image was coloured with promarkers in the following colours: Blue Pearl, Forest Green, Ruby, Gold, Buttercup, Honeycomb and Ivory.
