Crafty Catz DT - Anything Goes

Morning all,

Here's to the end of another week. Anyone else want to sleep the weekend away? well, before we get to that possibility we need to launch the new Crafty Catz Challenge. This weeks theme is Anything Goes and we are sponsored once again by Bugaboo Stamps who are offering our lucky winner 7 images of their choice.
My project is not a card this week but rather a review of an ongoing charity project that I've been working on.
In May I entered a draw to win some slight second, glass baubles from a local bead company Spellbound Beads. As it turned out, I was gifted 40 baubles in various sizes, free of charge, with the understanding that they were used for either a community project or for fundraising.

As a Church we do a lot of work with communities in Malawi, sponsoring schools, hospitals and helping local girls learn skills so that they can earn money and be independent. Twice a year we send containers full of clothing, books etc to our projects. The money I raise will be to support these projects.

So here are just some of the many beaded bauble projects I've been working on. I've used my personal stash of beads and some which have been donated by a friend. I'm hoping to sell them at a coffee and cake event in November.

Anyway, a bit different this week, but hope you enjoyed it. Don't forget to swing by the blog to see the other amazing projects. Until next time though, happy crafting.

Crafty Catz DT - Embossing

Morning all

Another Friday, another challenge over at Crafty Catz. This weeks theme has been set by Cindy and she wants to see you use Embossing on your card. We are sponsored this week by KennyK and our lucky winner will receive 5 images of their choice.

I went for wet embossing and embossed both the polaroid frame with glitter powder (sorry it doesn't show up too well) and a piece of acetate with silver powder to create a film strip. I used odd papers from various packs and finished it with a couple of tickets and tags I had lying around. I used promarkers to colour the image in Apricot, Blush, Ivory, Cinnamon, Henna, Apple Green, Forest Green, Light Grey 1 and Gold.

I was going for a vintage vibe so I hope you like it.
Until next time, happy crafting!

Crafty Catz DT - Fantasy/Fairy

Morning all,

Here's to the end of another week - it's been a trying one, not least because of the stupid cold I'm suffering with. Got to love to hate this time of year.

Anyway, Friday morning means a new challenge at Crafty Catz and this week its my theme and I would like to see Fantasy or Fairy inspired cards. We are sponsored this week by Morgan's Art World who are kindly offering our lucky winner a  3 images of their choice

The image I used on my card this week is called Gerient and Enid.
My card this week is inspired by my love of reading and the books are all scraps of paper, I created a book with the digi and made it stand up from the page, I manipulated it in photoshop so that it was at an angle. The image is coloured with distress inks and promarkers.

I printed one of my all time favourite Pratchett quotes out onto velum to finish the design. It's the perfect sentiment about Fantasy - "So you're saying humans need fantasies to make life bearable?" "No, humans need fantasy to BE human" - too right!

I hope you like the design, it was fun to make, more like a journal page really but it was an idea that wouldn't leave me alone. I quite like how it turned out, even if it is quite muted in colour.

Anyway, I look forward to seeing what you create. Until next time, happy crafting!
