Be someone, not something

Morning all,

Just a quick card to share with you today for Tiddly Inks colour challenge:

green, yellow, orange, blue

I decided to keep it really clean and simple and make a card that I can use as a 'just a note' type thing for my friends. I decided to use the stunning steampunk range and used Aidan and Priscilla with the victorian chaise from Make it Crafty.

As normal the image is coloured with promarkers - I'm not entirely happy with how her dressed worked out, but I'm missing the middle orange colour in the range so it's quite a jump. The paper is another from my yummy new My Minds Eye Paper pad and I simple layered 3 flowers top and bottom and added gems to the centre to give it a lift.

My Dad, My Superhero!

Afternoon all,

How are you today? I hope the weather where you are is better than here - we've had it all, torrid downpour, sleet, snow and brilliant sunshine - it's enough to make you feel quite ill. But thankfully I haven't needed to go out today and so I could concentrate on making my dad's birthday card.

I knew back at the start of January that this little image of Mo's was going to make a reapperance on my dad's card - he's just too darn cute! This time I coloured him with my watercolour pencils and mounted him on an oval background which I coloured in using chalk inks and glittering up the edges.

The pattern papers, ribbon and buttons are all new stash that I purchased with my gift voucher for winning Crafty Catz challenge a couple of weeks ago. The papers are from a 6x6 My Minds Eye pad called Blink of an Eye.

This is only the second Trifold card I've ever made and I have to admit I don't know why..... its slightly more time consuming making sure all the pieces of paper are the right size and going in the right direction - but it's so rewarding to make. I think this style may crop up a few more times this year.

I would like to enter this into Creative Inspirations and Simon Say's Challenges of Anything Goes and also into Mo's Challenge of - All My Favourite things; mine being - my dad, awsome digi images, mastering a new style and playing with yummy new stash.

I suddenly fancy a cream tea.....

Afternoon all,

No card for me today, as I've been busy making strawberries.... not the edible kind, but it has left me with a strange craving for a cream tea, lol! You may remember back in september I made some strawberry earings - well one of my christmas presents was the matching braclet and knecklace kits. So I've been busy making strawberries galore and this is the final outcome. 

I love it but at the moment I can't face making up the matching knecklace, as it's just so fiddly - I might cry!

But until then I have this little gem to wear and the other kit is safe and sound waiting for me. Not a lot else to share - I'm busy working on a piece of cross stitch as well at the moment, I only started it....oooooh about 6 years ago *hides in shame* maybe i'll get it finished before easter if I keep forcing myself to do a couple of hours a night?!

Pretty Pastels

Morning all,

How is everyone today? Staying dry I hope?! Today's card is for Truly Scruptious's Challenge - Something Forgotten. Yet again, I've dug out a Magnolia stamp that I haven't used in so long I had totally forgotten I had it. Ooops! I think I need a new stamp filing system so they don't get so overlooked!

This was a birthday card for the fabulous Mina over at Pinkpuds, who I know has recieved it so I can share:

The image and butterflies are coloured with promarkers. The pink circle is coloured with chalk inks. The circles were cut from various papers using a punch and the buttons are from stash. I hope it's just a fun and sweet card - I don't think there's much logic to the layout, I sort of went with the flow of things.

Colours of the Nation

Hello!

I'm a bit late posting this morning as I was caught up with a job application, so forgive me. But I'll try not to ramble so we can get straight onto this double challenge card. Allsort's set the challenge of a celebration of nations and Mojo Monday provided the perfect layout for it.

Clearly I am from the UK. I wish I could remember where I got this cute digi from, but I'm failing too, but isn't he just gorgous?! and perfect for this challenge with. I coloured him with promarkers and the wings are stickles (what else?). The pearls are actually pastel blue but the camera's bleached them out. The papers are from an SU pad of papers and the ribbon is from stash.

Its not 100% perfect but it'll do as my mojo is still MIA. I hope you like it though.

Today, Tomorrow, Always

Morning all,

How is everyone today? I hope you are all keeping well and staying warm. The weather here has turned from ice to rain. I'd say it was an improvement but the natural light is still awful and I still feel like I'm frowning all the time. Thankfully I didn't need perfect light to produce todays card, which is a request from my best friend has her younger brother has just got engaged to his long term girlfriend. I'm not sure why she wanted a book card, but that is what she wanted and it also had to be in greens as that is the couple's favourite colour.

So this is what  came up with for their new beginning - it also gave me a chance to use my fabulous new Marianne D die, that my brothers girlfriend brought me for christmas.

So there we have it. Clean and simple. The sentiment was computer generated  and oher than a few gems here and there it was really very simple. The green pattern paper is from a fabulous SU pad of paper and the gems are all from stash.

I would like to enter this into crafty catz challenge of use something new.

Lost: Mojo - If found, please return

Morning all,

Wow! It's cold outside, I think today will be another one for staying inside and hibernating. Maybe that's what my mojo is doing, as it had truly vanished on me yesterday and I really struggled to produce any challenge cards. This is the best of, what can only be called, a terrible batch :S oops

The recipe is simple: Magnolia image coloured with promarkers, Striped paper from K&Co pad, Ribbon from stash, Pips from collection, Sentiment from computer. All in all, very simple and very boring. Not at all happy with it. But not so bad it went in the bin with the others.

Very shamefully I would like to enter this into Simon Says challenge of spots and/or stripes; CRAFT - celebrations and Sketch Saturdays layout challenge.

I apologise now for the poor effort and hope to return to form soon - maybe some baking will help?!

In fields of Gold

Evening all,

How is everyone today? I do hope you've had a productive day.... mine has been mixed. I started doing some cleaning and reorganising and went to put my Cardmaking and Papercraft Magazines back in order - only to find I was about 6 missing...... hmm?! after scouring the house I found them, 'helpful' hands had mixed them with mums magazines but they hadn't put them all together in a magazine holder - oh no! they were mixed in and spread over 6 different holders..... *sigh* at least they're all back together again.

So having spent far too much time on that and then having an argument with my printer, I really haven't got as much card crafting done I was hoping. Nevertheless, I did manage to get one card done which I would like to enter into three challenges; Passion for Promarkers - Inspired by a Song (fields of gold), Just Magnolia's Sketch Challenge and Stampin for the weekend - Out with the old.

My poor magnolia stamp is one which so rarely see's the light of day so I thought she needed using and as I was colouring I started humming fields of gold and inspiration struck! The image is coloured with promarkers and the wings have stickles, star dust on them. The papers are all so old, I couldn't tell you what make they are and the little leaf button has been in my 'bits and bobs' box for at least 4 years *hides in shame*

So there we have it, I think it worked out really well in the end. I've left it blank for the time being, so I can use it for any occassion that comes up.

Friends are the Flowers of Life - Tiddly Inks Blog Hop

Hi Everyone,

So are you excited about Tiddly Inks Blog Hop? I know I am, but if you have no idea what I'm on about, head here to read all about it. But for now - here's my little addition to the fun:

So, the details: I used the exceptionally cute Lillie Claires Lilli's image, which I coloured with my promarkers and them added some stickles and gems to the flowers in her hair. The flowers were made by printing off the faded text extra file from Tiddly Inks Victorian Steampunk collection and then I stamped over them with a SU image before colouring them in with promarkers and adding a pearl. The wording was created by printing text onto spotty paper and being cut out and then the edges lightly sponged over with a purple memento ink pad before being foam mounted.

The sentiment inside was printed off on the computer and reads; "Friends like you don't grow on trees, I know that this is true. But if friends were flowers, there is no doubt how quickly I'd pick you". Both the sentiment and pink paper were cut on my friskers board and finished with another flower, as on the front.

Afternoon all,

How is everyone today? I'm afraid I don't have a card for you, but I've uploaded quite a few recently so if you're not up to speed, please check in on some of the earlier posts and feel free to comment. I love reading all your messages - they give me a warm and fuzzy feeling inside!

So, as i'm not sharing a card with you I really wanted to share this new product that i've seen and fallen in love with and i'm obsessed! I want one so badly!

Smash Folios.

They're a great product by K&Co and can be used as a journal, a notebook, a design book, mood board, memory book, scrapbook, photobook - the sky and your imagination is your limit!

  

I stumbled across these as I was looking for a travel journal for my cruise later this year. I wanted to make sure I captured everything in a fun and unique way and I think this is the answer - but now I want one to journal my year in as well.... oh temptation! terrible really as I can't really justify buying anything but essentials at the moment - what with the lack of income and everything, but oooh I want.... especially this pretty pink one!

Oh well, I guess I'll just have to drool over it in my dreams - if any of you have one, I'd love to see what you've done with it, especially the smaller version.

Full steam ahead!

Well I managed to find some inspiration today after all and I decided to get a head start on some of the male family cards I need this year. I hate making mens cards so when inspiration strikes I tend to go full steam ahead - which is rather apt given the image I've used!

The image is, of course, by Mo and just perfect for my Grandfather who is a real steam nut! not so much because of the trains but due to his engineering background. This is yet another bookcard, as part of his present is tickets for an orient express journey. Once again, I've decided to keep the image the main focus of the card and coloured him with promarkers. I mounted it onto some matt silver card and added a couple of pips from stash.

I would like to enter this card into Mo's - Anything Goes Challenge this week.

A New Year - Another Chance

Morning all,

How is everyone this morning? I'm cold and I'm feeling very lazy - inspiration has yet to strike and to be honest, I think its going to be a day for lots of cups of tea and a good book! lol! anyway, on to todays card which is for Just Magnolia's Challenge of Anything Goes with the additional challenge of New Year of New Something and for Crafty Catz who set the challenge of New Beginnings.

This is a new year's card with a twist. This is for a friend of mine, whose 2011 was about as turbulant as mine, so I thought she'd appreciate the saying - Cheers to a New Year and another chance for us to get it right!

The image is another underused Magnolia stamp and I've used the sketch and stash layout from last week. I've also been playing with the white ink again - with another SU image, from the same collection. The ribbon is from stash and some stickles glitter glue to make it shine. The sentiment is computer generated and finished inside - I didn't photograph it as this card opens in a tent style.

Shabby Pastels

Hi Everyone! I'm back again, with the second of today's cards. This one is for the Truly Scumptious challenge of Shabby Pastels and Paint.

I'm back on the book cards - this one is for a dear friend of mine whose in her 70's and took up card crafting about 18 months ago. She's gone from being a complete novice to making cards that rival mine. She's loving it and I just wanted to give her a little something to start the new year in style and so I've made her this to put in a couple of stamps that I've got her to add to her small stash.

The image is by Just Inklined and is one of my all time favourites, coloured with promarkers and decoupaged. The oval is embossed with my cuttlebug florish folder and the background paper is from a 12x12 sheet i've had since my last trip to the NEC hobbycraft fair over a year ago! The ribbon and pips are from stash.

So, I decided to dig out one of my Tilda's that I haven't used in an age as I thought she was perfect for this card and I coloured her with promarkers. She's not quite so flat in colour in person, but the lighting is shocking today!  The papers are all from my scraps box - the cream one is a hand made paper, the splots are from a freebie christmas pad I got with Cardmaking and Papercraft. The gems from stash and the sentiment is an SU stamp.

How is everyone today? the worst of the stormy weather seems to have passed over us now, thank goodness - I'm not sure I could cope with any more sleepless nights, I was starting to look like the living dead!

Anyway, on to today's card. I was inspired by Mojo Monday's Sketch this week to produce this:

The papers are from the Milton & Co Christmas Paper stack, the sentiment is computer generated and the flowers and pearl from stash. Its another very clean and simple card but again, I think it works.

I'd like to also enter this in Creative Inspirations and CRAFTS weekly challenges, which are both Thank You.
