Lavender Festival

Afternoon all,

Well June is almost over and that means that the Lavender Festival I've been taking the lead on at Blakesley Hall Museum is almost over too...... oh wait! no it isn't! Because the lavender is now in full bloom and we've had such a positive response to it all, we're extending the festival for a month! No demonstrations, but the public art, photographic competition, garden talks and sales of lavender related items will carry on throughout July. Yay!

But as the month draws to a close I wanted to share a little of what I've been up to with you all, so here it is! (warning: lots of images) :
 Making Lavender Wreaths
 Fresh French Lavender Wreath
 Close up on French Lavender
 Dried Lavender Posey
 Combination French and English Lavender
 Close-up Combination Wreath
 Lavender Hearts
 Lavender Cheesecake
 Making Bath Bombs and Handscrub
 Finished Bath Bombs
Lavender For Sale

It's been a long month with three themed weekends; decorating the house, cooking/recipes and self indulgence. It's also been a great month against all the odds of bad weather and limited advertising. Do I think it could have been better? well yes - but that would require more money and better advertising to get the visitors in but the feedback has been great. Hopefully this will start a trend and the site will do another festival next year - but here's hoping they also start it in July when the lavender is actually out! as there is nothing more stressful than trying to find large quantaties of fresh lavender at the start of June!

So there you have it - this is just a small insight into what has taken up my time this month and kept me away from card making.

Thanks for dropping by and until next time - Happy crafting!

Father's Day

Evening all,

How are we all today? I hope everyone's keeping well and dry. I'm counting down the days to my holiday and after a really horrible few days at work which have left me feeling really low, I feel that the sooner it arrives the better - I really need a break! but enough with the moaning and on with the card. My mojo has been on strike since I made my best friends card so I have literally just finished Dad's father's day card for tomorrow - nothing like last minute makes hey?!
I took inspiration from Mojo Monday's sketch to come up with the card. I've kept it really simple using this cutie image from tiddlyinks, mounted on a chalked ink circle. The papers are from a SU pad I've had for a while, following the theme of red, white and blue that is so popular at the moment. A couple of gems from stash finishes the design. It's not the most exciting card but I'm ok with that.

I would like to enter this card into the following challenges:
Mojo Monday - Sketch
The Pink Elephant - Masculine
Cupcake Challenges - Red, White and Blue
Tiddly Inks - Father's Day/Masculine
Creative Inspirations - Red, White and Blue
CRAFT - Father's Day
Fussy and Fancy - Boy Attitude

Thanks for stopping by, your comments mean a lot. Until next time - happy crafting!

It's all Monkey Business

Morning all,

Have you all dried out yet? I'm still a little wet around the edges as we had rain again all day yesterday - you wouldn't have believed it was glorious sunshine on sunday for my brothers birthday teaparty when you looked out the windows yesterday. Anyway, enough of my moaning about british weather and on with todays card.

This one is for my best friend, whose birthday is tomorrow. She's monkey mad and I always try and do her a different style of card every year (it's getting difficult!) but this is the creation for 2012!
I saw this idea of a roll framed easel card at the NEC in March and i've been meaning to try it out ever since - so this seemed like the perfect excuse. This cheeky monkey is one of Meljen's fabulous creations and I layered him to give him some depth as there wasn't going to be any major embellishments on the card, he is coloured, as always, with my trust promarkers. Sentiment is one I found free online and the flowers and gems are all from stash.

That's about it. I'd like to enter this into the following challenges:

Crafty Catz - Summer Time
Allsorts - Ice-cream colours
Passion for promarkers - Layers

Thanks for dropping by and until next time, happy crafting!

Bright Birthdays!

Morning all!

I hope you're all keeping warm and dry in this miserable weather, sadly I've been soaked to the bone 3 times in 5 days and now i'm feeling it - sore throat, headache, aching bones - yup i'm battling flu-ey symptoms! time to break out the lemsips!

Anyway, enough of that, time to share a birthday card with you. I made this for a good crafting friend of mine whose birthday was yesterday. I've been dying to share it just to prove I have been making cards but couldn't until today! lol!
I used the fabulous freebie Ava by SC and coloured her with promarkers in oranges and pinks. I teamed her up with a chalked oval which I glittered the edge of, some peachy/gold ribbon, pearls fromm stash and two fabulous papers from my new stack Boho Chic - First Edition paper.

Sorry the images aren't great, I've had to send my normal camera in for a service prior to my holiday as it got soaked in my bag the other weekend, so i'm using a really old camera that has no light level balance on it. Hopefully normal service will be resumed soon.

Until then, I'd like to enter this card into the following challenges:
The Pink Elephant - Vibrant Colours
Simon Says - Celebrate with gems
Saturated Canary - Anything goes

Until next time, happy crafting!
