New Home

Evening all,

Well here's to the end of another week. For those of you expecting a Crafty Catz DT card then I'm afraid to say you're going to have to wait a couple of weeks as the DT is on vacation. We're back on Friday 5th September with our next challenge.

But rather then leave the blog empty for a couple of weeks, I do have a few projects to share with you. So kicking off today I have a New Home card for my Best Friend and her Boyfriend. As this is her second house I had to go trawling through the old photos to see what I made her last time - as she keeps most of the cards I make her, it would have been too embarrassing to give her the same design again.

Luckily, I have a fabulous Tiddly Inks image on hand and plan up my sleeve.
I printed the house onto brown textured paper from Hero Art's: Life of the Party 6x6 pad. I then dug out my whisper pens to colour over the top and add texture to the building and highlight the roofs etc. I prefer the whisper pens to promarkers for this task as they're not as heavy, so you can add the colour but not loose the original texture.

I used a square from a 12x12 sheet of What's Up - Friendly skies for the background. Printed a sentiment onto some scrap red paper and then used this fab picket fence that a friend of mine sent me and finished the hole thing with some flowers, MS butterflies, gems and stickles.

I was thrilled with how it turned out in the end.

I would like to enter this card into two challenges this week:
Creative Inspirations: Anything Goes
Tiddly Inks Challenge: Anything Goes

Hope you all have a great bank holiday weekend if you're in the UK or just a great normal weekend for everywhere else in the world. Until next time, happy crafting

Crafty Catz DT - Recycle

Morning all,

Another Friday means a new challenge over at Crafty Catz. This weeks theme has been set by Ingrid and she would like to see you Recycle, so any of those things that would normally end up in the bin - try and use them this week.

We are sponsored this week by Fred She Said who are offering our winner $15 voucher

My project this week is a gift bag.
I had this little brown bag left over from a shopping trip to the famers market the other week and although I know you can buy these for craft projects - I don't. It's not really my kind of thing to do as a normal run of the mill craft project. So I thought this would be perfect for the challenge this week. I mooched for inspiration on Pinterest (I love that site!) and this is my final design:
The papers are left over 12x12 scraps - I don't know which brand they are, though my gut instinct is to say Bunny Zoe. I printed the sentiment on Kraft card, the ribbon is East of India, paper doilies from stash and the butterflies were sent to me by a friend so I'm not too sure which brand they are. I inked up the paper, doilies and the butterflies with sunflower and Sahara sands memento inks.

So there you go. It was fairly quick to assemble, although it took me an age to settle on the design. I hope you like it though and don't forget to take part in the challenge and see the swoon worthy projects from the other girls over at Crafty Catz.

Until next time. Happy Crafting

Crafty Catz DT - Lazy Days of Summer

Hello one and all!

Another Friday this year is shockingly flying by. I'd say I'm stressed by it but actually I don't think I have the energy. Life will take us where it will and it's just about hanging on long enough to enjoy the ride!

Anyway, enough of the philosophical musings.....

Our challenge this week has been set by Nina who wants to see cards on the theme Lazy days of Summer, we are sponsored this week by Bunny Zoe Crafts.

The DT have all had great fun interpreting this challenge in different ways, so be sure to swing by the Blog to see their gorgeous creations. As for me, well I decided to interpret it literally - it's summer and I'm feeling lazy - so summer colours and simple layout.
Everything about this card was already cut, coloured and in the stash ready to go. The image is coloured with promarkers, the background cut at the same time I did another card with this paper - the circle was coloured when I was experimenting with inks/doilies and masking and the ribbon and pips are always on hand.

So there you have it. My card this week. Hope you like it and looking forward to seeing you all play along. Until next time though - happy crafting!

Crafty Catz DT - Sketch Challenge

Good Morning all!

I hope you're all keeping well! this post is scheduled as I'm currently in Derbyshire having a bit of a vacation. So although this week is actually my challenge over at Crafty Catz, I've left it in the capable hands of my fellow teamies to get it out to you all. I settled on a Sketch challenge this week and the design is below:

We have two fab sponsors this week: Bugaboo and Crafty Ribbons
7 images of winners choice

We were given some fab images to play with by Bugaboo and here's my creation
I coloured the image in promarkers in Blush, Red, Poppy, Gold, Pastel Yellow, Apricot, Duck Egg, Cool Aqua, Pastel Blue and Moss

The image and two backing papers are mounted on card scraps whilst the designer papers are actually free Project Life cards which I found on pinterest and printed off. The sentiment at the bottom is washi tape and the gems and flower are all from stash.

Hope you enjoy the challenge and until next time, happy crafting!
