Crafty Catz DT - Hot Summer

Morning all,

Another Friday and July is racing away from us with shocking speed! I wish life would slow down a bit. What I don't want to stop though is this gorgeous weather we've been having of late - which has kind of been the perfect inspiration for our challenge at Crafty Catz this week.

Anna has set our theme for us and it's all about Hot Summers or Hot Summer Colours. We are sponsored this week by Yours or Mine

We didn't have a sponsor image this week, which meant that I could play with a Saturated Canary image that's been in my stash but uncoloured for an age.
So I coloured her in using promarkers in the following colours: ivory, blush, pastel pink, cool grey 1, buttercup, canary, gold, terracotta, cinnamon, pastel blue, cool aqua, red and pear green.

The ticket is part of the all aboard range from do craft, the arrow is a free printable from Uprintables, the sentiment is simply computer generated and an unknown quote which I love. The base paper is from stash and the buttons are what was left of some freebies I was given.

So there you have it. Hope you like it. Don't forget to swing by the blog to check out everyone else's creations. Until next time, happy crafting!

Crafty Catz DT - Flowers

Good Morning!

Another Friday, another week passed and another challenge at Crafty Catz! This weeks challenge has been set by Janette who wants to see you use Flowers on your cards - nice and simple. We are sponsored this week by Rick St Dennis and Mei Flowers.
£20 of goodies

3 images of winners choice

Although we were given some lovely images to play with from the Rick St. Dennis store, I had another floral project on the go for a friends birthday. It was also one of the very first card in a box projects I've ever done:
The card is all from stock. The flowers are from the ellie blog and are a free printable designed to make a flower garland. The butterflies are from U Printables and are equally a freebie. The background floral paper is actually some really nice wrapping paper I picked up and the gems from stash.

I layered up all the flowers and the butterflies are on jewellery wire in pale gold to make them appear as if they are floating.

I hope you like it. I have to say I was really pleased with it and I suspect it's a design I'll be replicating again for other friends.

Until next time though, happy crafting!

Crafty Catz DT - Stars and Stripes

Morning all,

Wow! what a week this has been! an early birthday dinner on Monday with one of my closet friends who I haven't seen for about a month - so loads of catching up and a tad too much wine! then Tuesday was my birthday, Wednesday was day 1 of a 3 day first aid course at work (and we laughed our way through the whole day) followed by coffee with another friend to catch up and get another birthday card, Thursday was a conference with over 600 people followed by Showboat at the Birmingham Hippodrome and today I have over 500 teachers in for a conference and then this weekend?! over 800 young people for a 2 day festival! phew....

Anyway, on with our challenge for this week which has been set by Aunty Sue who would like to see you use Stars and/or Stripes  on your card this week. We are sponsored by Bugaboo

7 images of winners choice

So there we go and on with my card:
Coloured with promarker's and using stars and stripes papers from stash with buttons from stash as well. Sweet and simple notecard this week from me but I hope you like it non the less.

Until next time - happy crafting!

Crafty Catz DT - Anything Goes

Good Morning!

Wow, we've been having some gorgeous weather of late here in the UK. I hope you've all been able to enjoy some of it. I'm truly blessed that the place I work in has some seriously large grounds and the most incredible flat gardens, so lunch breaks in the sun are a must at the moment. On the down side my museum space is a greenhouse! I honestly think I should start growing pineapples in there!

Anyway. On with this week's challenge which is Anything Goes so let the madness commence! We are sponsored this week by Paper Nest Store
Our Badge
Winner will receive $25 to the Paper Nest Dolls

So my card this week is for a friend of mine who was ordained as a priest last year and in a couple of weeks he will celebrate his first anniversary. I find it really difficult to know what to make as I'm not Catholic and I've never had a close friend whose dedicated their life to the Church so I always worry I'm going to mess up somehow.

That said, I figured that simple is best so here it is:

The background paper is from Kaisercrafts' Madame Boutique range. The design is actually a free template from Needle n' Thread which I mounted onto blue card and cut out again. My hope is one day, in the not to distant future, to actually sew the design up for him too. The image is coloured with Derwent Inktense pencils and finished with a few gold gems.

So there we go. Hope you like it and I really hope he likes it too. But don't forget to swing by the other girls' blogs to see their gorgeous creations and until next time, happy crafting!

Crafty Catz DT - Stitching: Real or Faux

Morning all! Another week almost over. Where does the time go?!

Well, Friday only means one thing and that's a new challenge at Crafty Catz. Our theme for this week which is Stitching it can be real or faux it doesn't matter which!  We are sponsored this week by Stamping Boutique who are offering our prize winner 3 digi stamps of their choice

My card this week is for a friend of mine who grows the most amazing moustaches! He's only in his early 20's (makes me feel old) but he's a total character. Anyway, I found a card on Pinterest from a French Blog and I took inspiration to create this:

So I stitched a black border and then cut the moustache out by hand. Found a bow template online and an old black coat button. I glossed the moustache with glossy accents and raised it on foam pads. Mounted the whole lot onto black card and then base card and there we have it.

Hope you like it - I know he does (like most men I know, he has no patience and opened it days before his actual birthday! lol!)

Anyway, swing by the blog to see the rest of the teams amazing creations. Until next time though, happy crafting!

Crafty Catz DT - Inspired by a Song

Morning all,

Well what a week this one has been! Our new vicar was finally installed on Wednesday night - alleluia! my brother Mathew turned 30! and I spent the best part of the week up to my eyes cutting, mounting and making displays for a temporary exhibition at work. It's been non stop!

Anyway, enough about me and on with this weeks challenge, which has been set by the lovely Jac. This week we want to see cards which have been Inspired by a song and don't forget to tell us what that song is in your post somewhere! We are sponsored this week by the lovely team at Bugaboo.
7 Images of Winner's Choice

Whilst they gave us stamps to play with, I have a whole stash of Bugaboo images and a plan for a card that's been floating around in my head for a while and this week's theme was just perfect to give it a shot - so here it is!
So just in case anyone hasn't guessed my song - it is The 12 days of Christmas (which is technically a carol but shush!)

The images are all coloured using promarkers in the following colours: Satin, Blush, Cool Grey 1,2 & 3, Duck Egg, China Blue, Pastel Blue, Buttercup, Pastel Yellow, Mustard, Gold, Apricot, Sandstone, Caramel, Cinnamon, Henna, Terracotta, Burgundy, Dusky Rose, Poppy, Pear Green, Apple, Forest Green, Moss and Meadow Green.

The papers are a square from stash and Bo Bunny's Snow Days. I finished with Platinum Stickles and some ribbon from stash.

Hope you like it and don't forget to come and join in the fun at Crafty Catz this week. Until next time - happy crafting!
