Hi everyone,
Well, this week is turning into a mild nightmare - did I honestly think it could get any worse after monday's funeral? well no..... but apparently fate has decided otherwise. On Tuesday my mums car key broke in the ignition - its not even 6 months old! 4 hours and £55 later it was fixed, just in time for us to get a phone call from the security company that monitors the church to say the roof sensors had been activated - some thieving little %~@!? were trying to steal the copper off the roof - again!!! so after that was resolved (ish) tuesday was over and then yesterday? oh, yesterday the internet packed in - yet again - right in the middle of me completing a time sensative online application form. Oh! how I hate this week so far. *head*hit*desk*
But with everything else going wrong it has meant the only thing I have been able to do is craft. Which is just as well as Mum's boss (the vicar of the church) turns 50 on Saturday and I promised mum I would make his card for her. Now the vicar's favourite bible story is Noah's Ark, so out came the high hopes images, scan then into the computer to resize to fit and mum's card for Paul is done:
Now that was all fine and dandy, but then I get handed the card our new curate had attempted to make for the whole church to sign... now I wish I had taken a photo but I didn't, so lets just say that our curate Manda really isn't artistic. She had folded a piece of mount board in half, but it had folded at an angle so it didn't stand and then added to it she had cut a 50 from Noah's Ark wrapping paper. Add on a hand written sentiment and we have the final card...... ummmm, no. So anyway, the card got given to someone else in the church to fix, who in turn (as usual) asked if I could rescue it.
Well I took the 50 off the front and started over. I cut the mountboard back to two 12"x12" squares, covered the insides with white paperstock, covered the front with blue - added a spine and then got a little crazy. After adding a black border to the 50 I dug out my trusty cuttlebug and cuttlekids animal dies and got going - so it's a strange mix but hey! I think it turned out really well in the end
So with two ark inspired cards done, all that is left is his birthday cake, which mum is making - but can you guess what it's going to be? lol! keep your eyes peeled and I'll upload photos of the finished masterpiece.
Hope you're all having a more fruitful week than I am and happy crafting!
OMG, what a week. But at least it wasn't all disastrous. You made a fantasic card and you did a great job of rescuing the other one :o)
