Crafty Catz DT - Love is in the Air

Good Morning everyone!

I hope you're all keeping well and looking forward to the weekend. It's once again time for a new challenge over at Crafty Catz and this week's theme has been set by the lovely Aunty Sue, who has set the theme of Love is in the Air with Valentines almost upon us. So the rules are simple, your card must feature a heart on it somewhere.

We are sponsored this week by the lovely Kenny K who is offering our lucky winner 5 digi's of their choice from the shop
Well, I'm not one for really celebrating valentines day but when I was given the choice of which image I wanted to play with I fell in love with Jeannie as I had an instant vision of the project I wanted to do. And here it is:
I had great fun making this project as I decided it was the perfect excuse to mess with a couple of techniques I've never attempted before - like resist embossing. I also wanted to try and make the front of the card looks something like a journaling page. I'm not sure I achieved that but I do like the final effect.

For this project I used Cores card in Magenta cut 14.5cm tall and the full run of the card (it was an offcut from a previous project - no serious thought given to the size). I scored it in three and then took off a couple of millimetres from the far right edge so that when it folded, the card would lay flat. I dusted the edges with Versa color ink in Peony and left it to try. In the meantime I cut the next layer of card from a bluey-purple cardstock that I had, which was made from recycled materials And then finally I cut the white cardstock to the required size.

I then stamped hearts (Cambridge daisy stamps) all over the white card and covered it with white embossing powder and set them. I then used Versa Color ink in Amethyst to go all over the card to create (I hope) a mottled effect and then cleaned off the excess ink from the embossed areas with some tissue.

Whilst the ink was drying I added a ribbon tie to the front and the first fold of the card (the third section being tucked inside) and printed off the text I wanted for the front and coloured in the image. I used Versamagic Sea breeze over the text and promarkers in the following colours for the image: ivory, blush, dusky pink, gold, burnt orange, terracotta, amethyst, duck egg and cool aqua.

I mounted everything up - finished the text off with a light covering of stickles startdust (not very clear on the picture) and printed off three wish cards for the inner pockets. The cards are left blank to be filled in in due course by either the recipient or the giver.

So that's it. I hope you like it. For those of you who have come from Crafty Catz blog you may be wondering where the other project is, if you pop back later I'll share that with you this evening.

Until then, happy crafting!
